The search for a Durban toddler who was swept away by floods last week has ended with the recovery of the 22-month-old girl’s body by emergency services.
Okuhle Kweyama’s body was found on the banks of a river in Umlazi’s E Section this morning.
Okuhle disappeared near her creche during Tuesday’s storm.
Police say a passerby made the discovery earlier and alerted local officers.
Spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says officers from the Umlazi Police Station and Durban’s Police Search and Rescue were sent to recover the child’s body.
“The body was positively identified by the parents as the one that was swept by the storm. An inquest docket is investigated by the Umlazi police station,” she said.
