Parents desperate to find missing Durban teen

There’s a frantic search for a special needs Durban school boy who’s been missing for two days.

Manqoba Gumede left his Umlazi home on Monday night apparently after becoming upset about something.

The parents of the 16-year-old contacted his Durban North school following his disappearance.

Manqoba’s principal at Golden Hours Special Needs School, Rowan Hornby says the teenager was wearing black shorts and a yellow shirt and was barefoot when he left home.

Hornby says his parents are worried about him.

“He’s categorised as a child with severe mental impairment. He is verbal – he can communicate with you. His father and stepmom are absolutely beside themselves. They are doing everything in their power to look for him. At this stage, I want to give out a big thank you to the Durban North crisis team. They have been amazing to us,” she says.
