Woman seriously injured after falling at Kloof Gorge

Durban – Rescuers worked for more than three hours to save a woman, in her late 30s, after she fell while allegedly jumping between rocks at Kloof Gorge on Sunday morning. Durban – Rescuers worked for more than three hours to save a woman, in her late 30s, after she fell while allegedly jumping between rocks at Kloof Gorge on Sunday morning.

Garrith Jamieson from Rescue Care Paramedics said they received a call about a woman who fell at the bottom of the gorge.

He said rescuers which included; Netcare 911 Rescue Unit as well as Rescue Tech, SAPS and Metro Police Search walked for approximately 2km to get to the injured woman.

“Due to the severity of the patient’s injuries and access to vehicles, while Rescue Care Advanced Life Support Paramedic worked to stabilise the woman, the Netcare 911 Aeromedical Helicopter arrived to assist in transporting the woman to a specialist facility,” added Jamieson.

The woman was in a critical condition. Jamieson said the patient had sustained possible head and spinal injuries.
